In times of crisis - and there is no doubt that the COVID-19 global pandemic is a crisis on a scale that none of us have ever experienced - we need yoga more than ever. So, you've come to the right place. Welcome to Santosha Yoga Australia.
What does Santosha mean? Santosha (pronounced san-toe-sha) is the Sanskrit word for contentment. It is our belief that the practice of contentment, gratitude and acceptance are the keys to finding happiness from within. These are our core values, and they underpin everything we do. Like all yoga studios, we have had to temporarily close our physical doors and shift our classes online. Regardless of our "physical distance" from you, our philosophy remains the same: yoga is for every body. It doesn't matter if you are fit or not, flexible or not, a beginner or experienced yoga student. Yoga can help you reduce stress, build strength and flexibility, and improve your overall health and wellbeing.
We have maintained our regular class schedule to give our students a sense of continuity and routine. You can book your virtual mat through our usual Booking system. If you can afford to pay for classes, your support is appreciated enormously.

Vinyasa/Flow Yoga (60 min) is a dynamic, flowing style that will build strength and flexibility and leave you feeling energized with a clear mind.
Yin Yoga (60 min) is a passive style of yoga targeting the connective tissue to keep us supple and mobile. Leave in a state of bliss, feeling relaxed and renewed.
Gentle Yoga (60 min) classes combine strength building poses with gentle movement. Great for beginners, people returning from a break, or those who want a slower practice. Leave feeling refreshed and calm.
Danielle first started practicing yoga in 2002. She quickly found that stepping onto her mat allowed her to calm down and find stillness in her mind – if only for brief moments! Over the years as her practice became more regular she noticed the additional strength, flexibility, energy and overall vitality that yoga provided.
After 10+ years, Danielle decided that it was time to take her practice to another level. She undertook her 200 hour teaching qualification with Power Living Australia Yoga, under the guidance of Duncan Peak. At that time, she had a very strong Power Flow practice, which was highly suited to her Type A personality. However, two weeks after graduating from her teacher training, Danielle was diagnosed with a serious illness that tilted her world on a pretty steep axis. Suddenly she was unable to practice Power Flow. Then she found Yin, particularly under the guidance of her teacher Jennifer Crescenzo, which helped her to get through a difficult period.
This experience transformed her outlook and approach to life. It taught her the importance of reducing stress, of finding balance, and of caring and nourishing herself on a physical, mental and emotional level. Most importantly, it led her to believe that regardless of what life throws at you, happiness and inner peace can be found through the practice of contentment, gratitude and acceptance.
Having fully recovered from her illness she has gone on to learn from many great local and international teachers including Sarah Powers, Simon Park, Leslie Kaminoff, Maty Ezraty, Donna Farhi and Lizzie Lasater. But it was training with Paul and Suzee Grilley that firmly cemented her approach to yoga: functional, rather than aesthetic. In other words, the focus is on what the pose is doing for you, and how it feels, rather than what it looks like.
Danielle's classes are authentic, open and personal. She will help guide you to quieten the mind, tune in to the inner world, and bring the body, breath and mind into greater harmony.
