Functional Yoga Workshop
Exploring The Impact Of Skeletal Variation On Our Yoga Practice
This informative and illuminating workshop explores a functional approach to yoga. Specifically, we will examine the impact of skeletal variation on our ability to do any given yoga pose, or asana.
Based on the training by renowned Yin Yoga teacher, Paul Grilley, this workshop will help you to understand the difference between an aesthetic and a functional approach to yoga. You will be better equipped to choose the right pose – for you or your students – to achieve a desired effect, regardless of body type, shape or size.
We will unpack the theory and the science, explore the differences in participants’ skeletal structure and then embody the knowledge with a yin yoga session.
“Many 200 hour YTT courses equip us with an in-depth understanding of the muscles, but very little time is spent on the huge range of variation found in the skeleton. The knowledge I gained from studying with Paul Grilley has had a profound impact on both my teaching and my own practice”.
This workshop is suitable for both Yoga Teachers and any student interested in a deeper understanding of how their own bodies inform the best way to practice for them.
