"Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally". Jon Kabat Zinn, founder of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
Mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress and enhance performance. It can help to quieten the mind and soothe frazzled nerves. Experience the benefits of mindfulness - and the different ways to practice it - in this unique one day urban retreat.
The Day
Everybody has the ability to be mindful; but it can take practice. Mindfulness tools can take many forms. Different techniques appeal to different people. It might be practiced formally through meditation, but can also be practiced through movement, creative activities or even everyday chores.

The Mindfulness and Creativity Day is designed to give you a taste of various techniques, so that you can see which one works best for you.

We will begin our day with a discussion on what mindfulness is and the different ways that we can practice it.
Explore mindfulness meditation techniques to clear the mind and find some space from racing thoughts.
Enjoy gentle yoga, that moves slowly enough for you to notice the movement of your body and your breath.
Finally, explore mindfulness through creativity and fun. Art and photography teacher Melanie Lunden will lead a Paint n Sip style session. (We will be sipping tea and nibbling on delicious light refreshments, all included in the price). Melanie will guide you to complete a painting on canvas, which is yours to keep.

You will walk away with a clear mind, relaxed body and a completed painting to take home. And perhaps some new friends!
